Assembly istructions (for version 1 and 2)

Follow the instructions below carefully, otherwise some steps may be incomplete. If you encounter problems in assembly, programming or during use, contact us.

➡ Details of some components:

Cod. 002 -> Plastic feet.
Cod. 006 -> They are inside the motor bags. Only the smallest screw is needed.
Cod. 014 -> They are inside the motor bags. Only use this type of lever.
Cod. 015 -> Pupils. Two to be used immediately plus two possible spare parts.
Cod. 016 -> They are inside the motor bags.
Cod. 018 -> Servomotors.
Cod. 020 -> Eyes.

Before proceeding with the assembly remove the protective films from the white plates. Then assemble the parts as shown in the figures.

Fix the eyes on two motors as shown in the figure; first insert the screw into the ball (1), then, holding it firmly with the screwdriver, insert it and screw it into the servomotor (2).

➡ The two screws with code 006 can be found inside the motor bags.

Fix the motors through the supports (017) and center the two eyes. Finally insert the wires into the hole as shown in the figure.

Take the other white plate (022) and put on it the nose and two ornamental screws at the edges of the lips.

➡ Pay attention to the direction, check well the position of the holes at the bottom.

Thread the long screws (009) and clip them with the black tubes (011).

To help you insert tubes use nails:

Place the other 4 motors, for the moment inserting only their cables into the holes.

➡ The image on the left is the front representation while the image on the right shows the back.

Join the two plates and, before screwing the wing nuts (010), insert the 4 motors in the holes shown in the figure below. Once inserted, screw the nuts without tightening! It is sufficient that the plates fit on the motors. Make sure that wires do not get caught between the plate and the motors.

To simplify the insertion of the motors you can position the face horizontally.

Connect the connectors to the respective positions indicated on the board. Pay attention to the direction of the connector: the orange wire must be on the ‘S’ row, the red on the ‘+’ row and the brown on the ‘-‘ row.

Labbro superiore -> Upper lip
Labbro inferiore -> Lower lip
Occhio sinistro -> Left eye
Occhio destro -> Right eye
Sopracciglio sinistro -> Left eyebrow
Sopracciglio destro -> Right eyebrow

Before completing the assembly we have to place all the servomotors in the standby position. First we connect Damerino to a power source such as a powerbank, a smartphone / tablet charger, or a USB socket.
N.B. To be able to power it must have at least 2A output.

Pairing between Damerino and your Android device

This is the same procedure you use to pair other Bluetooth devices.
N.B. Each device has small differences in the organization of settings and in the wordings, so you will have to try to find the corresponding functions in your device.

Connect Damerino to your device

Download the Damerino app from the Google Play Store, open it and click on the menu at the top right.

Select “Connect Damerino” from the menu.

By clicking on “select Damerino” you can select it from the list of Bluetooth devices.

Select MecWilly from the list. Once selected it will automatically connect, this time and next times.

Eyebrow assembly

Attach the double-sided adhesive to the eyebrows as shown in the figure, matching the holes, pay attention to the position!

Now that the eyebrows are ready we can proceed to fix them on the levers. It takes two white levers (014) from two motor bags. Then remove the adhesive film from the eyebrows and fix it on the lever making the two holes coincide as shown in the figure.

N.B. Attach eyebrows, lips and pupils to the robot only when you are on the ‘Motors adjustment’ screen in the app (see step below). In this way all the motors will be in the Standby position.

By selecting the ‘Motors adjustment’ item from the menu, they will reach their central standby position and remain stationary. Now we can proceed to connect the features. You will have to attach them so that the positions are as close as possible to the following drawings (centered eyes, horizontal eyebrows and slightly curved lips). You will not be able to insert them in the exact position, but do not worry, then we will adjust them via the app.

N.B. Place the features only when you’re on the ‘Motors adjustment’ screen in the app.

Apply the adhesive pupils on the eyes, attach the lips to the two motors and insert the other end of the spring into the hole as shown in the arrow in the figure.

Now you can refine the positions of the motors via the application. Select the motor and adjust its position with the ‘+’ and the ‘-‘. When you have adjusted them all click on save.

Through the buttons ‘+’ and ‘-‘ adjust the selected servomotor, it will move slightly each time the button is pressed. Once all the engines have been set, click on save to save the new Standby positions.

Offline speech recognition

Finally we must make sure that your device has already downloaded the offline speech recognition data package. Otherwise we download it. (In case this feature is not supported by your device, you can deselect the “Offline speech recognition” item from the app menu.)

Enter the settings of your device and click on “Language and keyboard”.

If your device has already installed the package of your language, you do not have to do anything. Otherwise follow the figures below.
